Drammen (heat is on) - 10000m NM 2001
Strong and fit, but beaten by the unusual hot weather conditions. Drammen had the highest temperature in Norway that day! And the very high humidity (85%) ate my physical energy and mental focus. I had nothing to run for: 8th place. Five runners did not finish. |

Fjellhamarstafetten 2001 (kondis.no)
I delivered the stick first to Dag Olav. Again Henrik Sandstad (SK Vidar) had to wait. OSI only two seconds behind SK Vidar at the finish (a team filled with "stars"). Damn, it could have been a sensational victory over the elite! My father won this relay in 1972 with his club IF Sturla. In his training diary he is pleased that his team won over OSI - which won in 1971! At that time, OSI had runners on the national team. Last year (2000) Terje Næss was beaten by me in this steep slope! One of my strengths has been hill runs. |

Training several times with Norways alpine-skiing-team. They called it "Henrik intervals" in their training diaries. Tough training ended with success in the Olympics! |
Team Strøm Andersen

Father and son after victory in Osloløpet 2001
Arild is manager and expert on race logistics in Team Strøm Andersen. While I began running late, my father probably gave up too early (he had other important things to do!). As a runner he progressed every year. Some highlights: In 1969 he ran 2,57 the 1200m on track in Holmenkollstafetten. 5000m bronze in NM, 1971. Won Kildeløpet Aalborg 1972 beating several strong international runners - such as Jørn Lauenborg. |

Toppidrettsenteret 2000 - workouts
A powerful body doing strength training in a special exercise machine. 250 percent increased submax strength after 10 weeks! I also tested 78,2 ml/min/kg VO2max (out of season). |
